one sentence changed it all…

I remember going to the Drive Conference in 2006. It was the first time I had ever been to or even heard of North Point Community Church or Andy Stanley. The sentence that changed everything was this, “We should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God” (Acts 15:19). Andy Stanley was quoting Paul and Paul was fighting for the people who were new converts to Christianity. The Jewish Christians wanted the Gentiles to be circumcised before they could become Christian converts. But Paul fought for them and said that there is no reason we should force them to hold to our old traditions, they are not bound by the old law. There is a new covenant.

The church today needs to do the same thing. Fight to keep it simple and not difficult for those who are turning to God. Don’t create a bunch of hoops to jump through. Keep it simple. Because it is simple. It’s simply Jesus.

How are you making it easy?
How are you making it difficult?

It is possible to know all about doctrine and yet not know Jesus. The soul is in danger when knowledge of doctrine outsteps intimate touch with Jesus. Have you a personal history with Jesus Christ? The one sign of discipleship is intimate connection with Him,a knowledge of Jesus Christ which nothing can shake. Rules, regulations, doctrines and laws will not save you. Only a personal relationship with Him and His Grace and Mercy will give you a home in His Kingdom.

Micha……………I just came out of the seventh Day Adventist church after 30 some years of laws, rules and many regulations. I searched for a church that would be non denominational without all the baggage. I attended New Vintage for the first time last year at the Christmas Eve program and have never turned back. I was raised a Wesleyan Methodist. and now thanks to New vintage I am free in Jesus again. Theres not a person on the face of the earth that can take Jesus out of my heart . I was raised with the Word and will always start my day with it. Thanks for your blog and Andys too. I will be having commuion too on the 19th and I want to become a member. I will talk to Pastor Andy about that on the 19th. God Bless you and your little family. The baby is so cute. Reena Nelson
